Glue each pair of ears together, leaving the bottom seam open. Line up 2 pieces of felt, then use your glue gun to attach them together. Leave the bottom 2 inches (5.1 cm) open, then do the same thing with the other pair of circles.
Lastly sew the interfacing rectangle onto the back of the body rectangle. Use the opening at the bottom of the ears to pull the felt through and turn them inside out. This will hide the seam that you made by gluing the 2 pieces together so they look seamless. If you are attaching the tail to a onesie, just put it on the lower back area. Make your own angel costume
So we hurriedly painted the eyes, did the mouth and made some temporary teeth. Then we took it out for everyone to see. Even drawing a simple outline is a challenge for me. I found a donkey picture online that was in the public domain. Now that all of the pieces have been cut out it’s time to start assembling the costume. Using the interfacing cut out a long rectangle that will serve as the donkey’s back.
Take your hot glue gun and use it to seal up the open edge of the tail. It’s okay if you can see the seam on this side because you can hide it in the rest of your costume. As with the sheep, have your child wear the black socks, plimsolls and gloves to represent the donkey’s hooves. With a little bit of effort, you’ll end up with a great nativity outfit because, let’s face it, kids always look cuter in homemade costumes.
Making the Body and the Tail
You can make sure the ears stick up by taping pipe cleaners to the back of them. The black socks, plimsolls and gloves will be the sheep’s hooves. Have your child wear sandals to complete the outfit, and add a brown robe if you like. Cut the pieces of card into two wing shapes, and stick together in the middle. Separate the muffin cases and fold them in half. Glue them to the outer edges then work your way inwards.
Punch holes into two of the star points on each card, and tie ribbon from one star to the other, making a sandwich board effect. Cut both pieces into stars of equal sizes. Do be aware that your child may have to sit down at some point so don’t make the stars so big that this becomes difficult.
Multiplication Practice Cards
As with Mary and Joseph, use a skirt at home or add cloth to make a skirt longer if needed. Ask your child to design their own pendant from the remaining gold card and glitter, punch a hole in the centre of it using a hole punch then thread it onto a plastic necklace. If they find that uncomfortable, you could just use one star that they wear on their back like a rucksack, or simply stick lots of little shiny stars onto their T-shirt. You could even use Christmas tree decorations if you like. Get them to wear the gloves and socks as hooves and, voilà, you have a sheep.
Make the pillowcase or sack into a tunic by simply cutting slits down the side for arm holes and use a plate to sketch out a circular neck hole. If your angel wants to be really fancy, he or she could decorate the wings with more tinsel and glitter for extra-sparkly effect. How do you make the donkeychin?

My wife, as Fiona, applied ears, a prosthetic nose, and lots of green paint along with a wig and a Renaissance style green dress. It took her the good part of an hour to do the face paint, which could have been hard to do on a 6 year old but he totally complied by falling asleep in her lap while she did it. I thought our youngest son was the funniest of all the crew as he went as the incredibly diminutive Lord Farquaad. We even managed to get our newest Au Pair into the spirit, having her go as Donkey.
Use the opening that you turned the tail inside out with to add foam, cotton, or newspaper. Try to stuff the tail as much as you can so that it looks stiff and puffy. Trim a 5 by 15 in piece of brown felt for the tail.
So we had to figure out what we were doing and also had not correctly estimated the amount of time it was going to take. And, as usual, we had waited fairly late to get started. Plus with paper mache you can only do so much at a time and then you need to stop and let it dry.
If your son is refusing to wear a skirt, they may settle for very baggy trousers with a robe over the top. Have your child wear sandals, or plimsolls if you don’t have anything suitable. Also, check with the school whether you need to provide a doll and fabric for swaddling. Dig out their brightest coloured clothing to wear beneath the robe and wrap the gold rope or ribbon around it to make a belt.
